Ceylon sapphires & precious stones

Every stone, photographed the day it was cut.

Ashadi Ceylon Gem is the online gemstone showcase for Ashadi Jewellers — a Sri Lankan gemstone dealer and jewellery manufacturer trading genuine natural stones since 1988. Every stone listed here is photographed before it's shown, so what you see is what arrives at your door.

Every colour Ceylon gives

Sri Lanka produces sapphire across the full spectrum, from midnight blue to the rare salmon-pink of padparadscha.

Genuine, natural gemstones

Every stone we sell is natural and checked for authenticity before it's listed — no synthetics, no undisclosed treatments.

Proudly Sri Lankan

Sourced and sold by Ashadi Jewellers, trading genuine Ceylon gemstones and fine jewellery since 1988.

Direct from the dealer

No auction houses, no middle brokers. Stones move from our business to your hands, which keeps prices honest.

Started by one founder. Still family-run today.

Ashadi Jewellers was founded on 1 January 1988 by Lande Badalge Wasantha, dealing in natural Sri Lankan gemstones. Over the decades the business grew to include fine jewellery manufacturing, and Ashadi Ceylon Gem is now our dedicated storefront for loose, natural stones — sapphire, ruby, emerald, alexandrite, and more.

Sri Lanka's gem-bearing districts each tend to favour certain stones — Ratnapura for blue and star sapphire, Elahera for teal sapphire and cat's eye, Okkampitiya for padparadscha and ruby, Balangoda for green sapphire — and we note each stone's origin on its listing so you always know where it came from.

From jewellers and collectors

What buyers notice first

“The certificate matched the stone down to the millimetre. That's rarer than it should be at this price point.”

R. Fernando — Bench jeweller, Colombo

“They told me which pit the padparadscha came from before I even asked. I've never had that from a dealer before.”

A. Meyer — Private collector, Zurich

“Consistent cut quality across an entire parcel. My setters no longer have to compensate for uneven pavilions.”

S. Weerasinghe — Goldsmith, Kandy

“I've bought sapphires sight unseen from a dozen dealers. Ashadi is the only one where the photos never oversold the stone.”

N. Silva — Auction house buyer, Colombo

“The blue was exactly the shade in the listing photo under daylight. No surprises when the parcel arrived.”

K. Abeysekera — Independent gemologist, Ratnapura

“They walked me through treatment disclosure on every stone before I asked. That kind of transparency is unusual.”

J. Okafor — Jewellery designer, Lagos

“Same cutter, same hand, every single stone in the parcel. You can see it in how evenly the light returns.”

T. Perera — Master goldsmith, Galle

“Ordered a padparadscha for a client and it matched the reference photo down to the facet pattern.”

M. Delacroix — Jeweller, Paris

“Working directly with a cutting family instead of a broker chain meant the price actually made sense.”

R. Gunawardena — Wholesale buyer, Colombo

“My lab confirmed everything on their certificate without a single discrepancy. That builds real trust.”

S. Chen — Gemological lab technician, Bangkok

“I asked for a specific hue of star sapphire and they sent three options with honest notes on each one's asterism.”

D. Fonseka — Private collector, Singapore

“Every stone I've bought from them has held its color and clarity claims under my own loupe.”

A. Wickramasinghe — Appraiser, Colombo

“The ruby I bought for a client's engagement ring came with full provenance back to Okkampitiya. She loved the story as much as the stone.”

L. Fernando — Bridal jeweller, Kandy

“Fast, clear communication and the parcel photos were taken the same week the stones were cut.”

H. Bandara — Online reseller, Colombo

“Three generations of cutting experience shows in the symmetry. Barely any recutting needed on my end.”

P. Rathnayake — Bench jeweller, Negombo

New parcels are cut monthly. Hear about them first.
